NERVIANO (MI) – Simone Buda from Solme – Olmo from Romagna is the winner of the 77th edition of the Coppa Caduti Nervianesi, the cycling event for Elite and Under 23s organized by the Us Nervianese of president Enrico Fontana (in the photo of Elena Di Vincenzo on the podium with the winner and president Dagnoni).

At the finish line in Nerviano, the sprinter from Cesena beat Cristian Rocchetta (Uc Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol) and Lorenzo Ursella (Zalf Euromobil Désirée Fior). Second seasonal success for him – after the one obtained at Castello Roganzuolo – confirming an excellent start to the season for him and his team.

Before the traditional start, a celebratory moment for Liberation Day with the laying of a laurel wreath in homage to the fallen by a representation of the runners, the organisers, the ANPI group and the municipal administration with the mayor Daniela Colombo and the sports councilor Flavio Cozzi. Also present were the children of the Nerviano Primary School involved with various initiatives of the organization.

Coming to the race news, at the sixth kilometre, six of them leave: Marco Rancilio (NamedSport – MI Impianti), the New Zealander Edward William Pawson (Rime Drali), Gianluca Cordioli (Uc Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol), Tommaso Nencini (Zalf Euromobil Désirée Fior ), the Russian Daniyl Zarakovskiy (Pc Baix Ebre) and Pier Elis Belletta (Work Service Group Vitalcare).

The agreement and pace between the leading men was excellent and at km 80 they reached the maximum advantage of 3’15”; during the fourth lap the group begins to make up ground, bringing the gap back under three minutes. 53 kilometers from the finish line the lead margin drops to 2’44”.

The group’s comeback continues inexorably, closing the gap on the last survivors of the breakaway 11 kilometers from the end. The group passes compactly at the sound of the bell and the last lap is tackled at supersonic speed with the work of the sprinters’ trains. Everything is decided on the final straight where the fastest wheel is that of Simone Buda who leaves no escape for his opponents.

Simone Buda’s statements after the victory: “First of all I have to thank my teammates, because they put their heart and soul into closing on the breakaway in the first hour. The six in front went very well and only thanks to the work of many teams were we able to mend the gap. Even due to the long run-up, on the finishing straight we sprinters found ourselves without a leadout; I found myself in the wind already 300 meters from the finish line, but after the great work of my teammates I couldn’t fail. This is the second victory of the season for me, after the one achieved at the beginning of March at the GP de Nardi, but above all it is yet another proof of the goodness of Solme-Olmo, a team that is enjoying a wonderful start to the season”.
