24/04/2024 – The 2nd Interregional phase level 1 which saw the Under 16 team of Fiorini Pesaro Rugby ended with a 9th place. A particularly formative season for the young Giallorossi who faced a challenging championship.

«We are satisfied with this result and the good growth shown by the whole group» commented the president of Fiorini Pesaro Rugby, Simone Mattioli. «Our company has always been committed to the training and development of the movement of the oval ball and its players. Facing the challenge of the elite championship was particularly educational for our boys. Heartfelt thanks go to all the staff for making this great result possible.”

«Not an easy championship, especially at the beginning» adds coach Andrea Salvatori, who, supported by first team players Flavio Fusco and Alessio Dabalà, followed the young Kiwis in this adventure. «The level of the teams we competed against is very high. In the first round we suffered from the lack of experience and level of play but this made us grow. In the second round the team found balance, both from a physical point of view and in terms of playing, also obtaining important victories with very respectable scores. The last few games played have been the best expression of the game we have managed to create. The last match, against Piacenza, showed the reaction we expected from a group that has always worked uphill but has managed to evolve in an excellent way. The comeback victory was the best way to end the season, demonstrating on the field to us coaches, but also to the kids themselves, the evolution that has taken place this season.”

How important was it for the boys to compete against more structured teams? «I think it was fundamental. The elite experience, however tiring, is what the group needed. It helped us a lot to compete against structured teams, with a beautiful and effective type of game against which it is necessary to work hard in everything that precedes the match to be able to achieve the result, engaging the boys not only on Sunday, but throughout the week for physical, mental and technical preparation. A championship that forced all the kids to do more to evolve, improve and grow as individuals within a group”

What satisfied you most? «The attitude of the boys regarding their presence at training sessions gave us the opportunity to work in a group that had the will to grow. The trust that the boys gave to the technical staff in following our advice, directives and analysis of the matches. The most impactful thing was the growth of the group together with the coaches.”

What will the under 16 summer be like? «Now we’re taking a bit of rest, the last period has been very demanding both physically and mentally. Then we will prepare for the home tournament that we will host in the next few weeks. We are convinced that we can once again demonstrate the evolution of the group, that we can play rugby on par with the most renowned teams in the elite championship.”

Not just the elite championship: «In parallel with the elite project we created a collaboration with Falconara, which was in difficulty due to lack of numbers. We decided to help them by creating a path of shared growth for the two teams by “lending” 5 athletes from Pesaro Rugby who have helped them in the challenges of the regional championship since January. A big thank you goes to the children who made themselves available for this project, and to their families. It was a way to grow and compete together with a club close to us.”
