MotoGP and Liberty Media will follow their path together and many see this as an opportunity for the sport to grow in the United States of America while others… are skeptical. Dan Rossomondo addresses some comments that point to the category as not being that interesting in the country and that locals don’t seem to have interest in the two-wheeled sport, while also expressing other concerns.

One of those voices that came out to talk about MotoGP not being seen as an interesting sport to watch and that it might be difficult to attract new people to watch it more was Roland Sands, well-known motorcycle designer and motorcycle racer, together with the Commercial Office Head of MotoGP to comment on the American words, on CNN: ‘There is a cultural attachment to global sports in the United States. I look at how the Premier League did it, I look at how F1 did it, and it’s a great thing, so we’re global, and it’s a cool thing.’

Following the words of Sands, who said: ‘If you do it for America the show has to be in English, number one. Because no one here wants to watch subtitles’, Rossomondo was clear and even gave an example of how even non-English speakers can still be quite overwhelmed:

– People say: «Your boys don’t speak English», but that’s okay, I mean when was the last time you heard Lionel Messi do an interview in English? You didn’t hear it. So, I think that’s part of the opportunity in the United States.
