Cycle tourism, Gazzetta Bike Academy for cycling with Fondriest and Nibali

Sardinia, Andalusia, Mediterranean Cruise and Lanzarote, from June to November: here are the four events that Gazzetta and “Viaggi e Cultura” offer to cyclists to ride with cycling champions

Bike excursions, lessons from cycling champions, such as Maurizio Fondriest and Vincenzo Nibali, nature and seaside holidays: these are the ingredients behind four events linked to cycle tourism. An idea conceived by Gazzetta dello Sport and the Veronese Viaggi e Cultura agency, active in the sector since 1997. The initiative is aimed at cycle amateurs intending to enjoy a special experience together with other enthusiasts. In these events, participants will be divided into two groups, “warriors” and “fearless”, based on the difficulty of the routes prepared by Stefano Di Santo, the Giro d’Italia cartographer. Many champions will ride safely together with them. For further information, please refer to the site

The first event on the calendar is the “Cycling Village”, in Sardinia. Eight days, from 8 to 15 June 2024, with a seven-night stay in the 4-star TH Costa Rei resort – Free beach village, which overlooks the splendid sea of Costa Rei. Five organized outings and one free, all scheduled in the morning, while in the afternoon you can choose between the beach or a visit to the scenic beauty. Furthermore, three pre-evening meetings with Fondriest are scheduled. The 1988 world champion will talk about technique, safety, bicycle maintenance, anecdotes and current cycling. Two options: between 80 and 140 km with a difference in altitude of 2,500 meters for the “warriors”, from 50 to 80 km for the “fearless”, with a maximum difference in altitude of 1,500 metres. Each group will be accompanied by a car with mechanical assistance. A free top-of-the-range cycling jersey from the Gazzetta Bike Academy by Q.36.5.

Common route for everyone, experts or not, but with a reduced mileage for the “fearless”. Fondriest was also present, in the role of testimonial and tutor. Not just cycling: the tour offers the opportunity to visit the pearls of Andalusia, such as Seville and Granada. Also for this reason, participants will have a large tourism bus and an official tourist guide at their disposal. The flight is scheduled from Malpensa, while the return transport of the bicycle from Italy will take place by van with collection and return from the scheduled locations two days before departure and after the return. Two types of routes: from 70 to 120 km for the “warriors”, from 50 to 70 km for the “fearless”. The ship’s itinerary includes five stops. In Naples we will tackle the climb to Vesuvius, while in Messina we will travel the streets of Nibali. Then a stop in Barcelona (Spain), with the ascent to Montserrat, before arriving in Marseille (France), among the scents of Provence. Finally, a free exit is planned in Valletta (Malta). During the day of navigation there will also be a race with the interactive rollers of the “Elite” where cyclists will be able to compete with the most famous climbs in all of Europe.
