Viterbo – A football pitch and a volleyball pitch set up in Piazza dei Caduti, many young athletes inside and three exceptional “instructors”.

Ciccio Graziani, Andrea Lucchetta and Adriano Panatta are the great protagonists of the first stage of “A champion in the family” currently underway in Viterbo.

“I thank the councilor Emanuele Aronne and the city councilor Maria Rita De Alexandris for the excellent organization of the event – said the deputy mayor Alfonso Antoniozzi -. I also say thank you to the champions present. I would also like to send a message to young people: you must understand that you can dream and that dreams can come true. If a person believes in it and works hard he can become a champion. Don’t ever forget it.”

The three football, volleyball and tennis champions arrived in Tuscia this morning to inaugurate the traveling tour which started from the city of the popes and which will visit five other Italian cities in the coming months (Jesolo, Asti, L’Aquila, Brescia and Campobasso).

“We are very happy with the strong support of the families of Viterbo in this event promoted by Cattolica – explained Adriano Panatta -. The objective was to promote, through sports, entertainment, music and many games, a morning of aggregation and sharing in the open air, in the splendid setting of Piazza dei Caduti among young people and families. Seeing the smiles of so many parents join those of children and teenagers is a wonderful emotion. The essence of events like this is precisely being together and playing while experiencing sport lightly.”

Promoted by Cattolica, a business unit of Generali Italia, the event aims to promote sociality and a healthy lifestyle through the teachings of sport.

“We couldn’t wait to leave again for this wonderful journey together with Cattolica and contribute, with our passion and our history as sports champions, to making this morning special, dedicated to games, entertainment and healthy fun, involving young people and their families” declared Ciccio Graziani while Andrea Lucchetta said that “Sport is a formidable social aggregator, it encourages sharing, stimulates passion and generates enthusiasm, the same that Ciccio, Adriano and I have put into play even today and which we will continue to put on during this tour which allows many Italian families to meet up, play and have fun”.

Many, including young athletes and parents, arrived in the square to ask for an autograph or a photo from Graziani, Lucchetta and Panatta, who were very helpful with everyone between one match and another played by the children on the pitches.

“For a former tennis player like me, having a legend like Panatta alongside me is fantastic – said Bishop Orazio Francesco Piazza -. Sport creates family and builds friendships which are among the most beautiful things in life. Finally, I would like to remind you that it is also nice to bring the weakest and most fragile with us into sport. In this way we are already champions in life.”
