In the last episode of Tennis Talk, a SuperTennis broadcast hosted by Giorgio Spalluto, Diego Nargiso analyzed the style of play that distinguishes it Jannik Sinner on clay. Considering what happened last year and the performances of the South Tyrolean at the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo, the former Italian tennis player believes that the 22-year-old from San Candido will have to be good at varying during exchanges so as not to get into too much difficulty against a certain category of players.
Nargiso mentioned in particular Holger Rune for the ability to adapt to rivals’ shots and physically fight on every point.

“When Sinner plays too straight and too equal, he has to be careful against certain players.
For example Rune who is physically very strong and has had incredible timing on the ball since he was little. I saw him play under 14, he wasn’t physically big and had to lean well on his opponents’ shots, and that’s something he manages to do well: he knows how to change the speed of the ball,” explained Nargiso.
“When he meets this type of player, Jannik will have to be careful, especially on clay. It’s a great starting point to say that there is still room for Jannik to start using those variations again that we’ve seen him do less of, because he’s won a lot playing his best tennis.”
After losing the semi-final against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Principality, Sinner will return to the field at the Masters 1000 in Madrid. The Italian will take advantage of the Spanish event to arrive in the best conditions at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and at the Roland Garros.
