“Vittoria For Women – The Numbers of Prevention”: the Azzurre on the pitch with a special shirt for the prevention of female cancers

In the pre-match of Italy-Scotland the Azzurre will be the protagonists of an initiative promoted by Vittoria Assicurazioni

Vittoria For Women -The Numbers of Prevention

Vittoria Assicurazioni, main sponsor of the Italian Rugby Federation, presented today in Milan “Vittoria For Women – The Numbers of Prevention”, an initiative in collaboration with FIR and the Specchio dei Tempi Foundation to support prevention in the fight against breast cancer.

The protagonist of the initiative is a special shirt which tomorrow, Saturday 20 April, will be worn by the 23 Italian women’s national team in the pre-match of the match against Scotland, the last home match of the 2024 Women’s Six Nations at the Lanfranchi stadium in Parma.

The National Women’s Rugby Team will wear the “Vittoria For Women -The Numbers of Prevention” shirt

The “talking” shirt aims to raise public awareness about the prevention of female oncological diseases. As stated in the claim that accompanies the project “The numbers of the Azzurre, for the numbers of prevention”, each rugby player’s shirt number has been associated with an official data to remember how the adoption of virtuous practices and measures can prove to be the best attention that any person can dedicate to themselves.

Furthermore, outside the Lanfranchi stadium from 3pm until the end of the match, there will be the VittoriaBus, a traveling prevention and information center managed by the Specchio dei Tempi Foundation, which will be used as a medical room for a free breast examination.
At the same time, the fundraising campaign will be reopened, which in past editions of “Vittoria for Women” allowed the purchase of the VittoriaBus. In addition to donations on site and on the dedicated website, personalized Azzurre shirts will be auctioned. It will be possible to win them at different times: at the end of the Italy-Scotland match tomorrow, as well as on the occasion of one of the six stages of the Vittoria for Women Tour scheduled from 26 June to 27 July in conjunction with the Italian Beach Rugby Trophy where it will be present also in this edition the VittoriaBus.

It should be noted that, as reported by Angelo Conti Vice President Operations Fondazione Specchio dei Tempi, over 1000 tests were conducted during last year’s tour, obviously with the utmost respect for privacy, which highlighted 31 suspected cases (of which one subject male) which in the follow-up became 22 positive cases with an outcome of 20 curable subjects.

Doing the honors at the insurance office in Milan was Luciano Chillemi, Head of Institutional Communication and Customer Care of Vittoria Assicurazioni who was the first to speak: “The message we want to convey through Vittoria for Women – The Numbers of Prevention it is the inestimable value of prevention, a priority at any time of the year. We want to demonstrate with real and positive evidence how being timely in diagnosis and, therefore, in treatment can really save a life”,

Matteo Campaner, General Director of Vittoria Assicurazioni, spoke after him and stated: “Prevention plays a crucial role in looking to the future. Protecting yourself before an event occurs is, in fact, fundamental if you do not want to risk being overwhelmed and – in some cases defeated – by greater forces. This is why as a Company we will never stop raising consciences and making both women and men more aware and informed so that they can make positive decisions not only for themselves, but also for all the people around them”

At the end of the conference, the federal president Marzio Innocenti also spoke: “With Vittoria Assicurazioni and its top management, the relationship has long gone far beyond a simple sporting and commercial partnership. We have found precious traveling companions, who share with us the way of understanding life and sport on and off the pitch. For FIR, concrete commitment to the world around us is fundamental to fulfilling the task of positively influencing society. As FIR President, I am proud that our National Women’s Team, a flagship of Italian rugby, can contribute to raising awareness of more and more women about the importance of cancer prevention. As a doctor with over forty years of experience, I am grateful to Vittoria Assicurazioni and our Azzurre for teaming up to spread such an important message.”
