Industry experts have recently raised the alarm for the high costs present in the world of two wheels. In particular, one piece of news has literally left all the riders in Italy speechless.

The news that shocked the centaurs

The recent rise in fuel prices is obviously disrupting the automotive and motorcycle industries, as the costs of maintaining a motorcycle and car have suddenly skyrocketed. What was most surprising was the fact that the price of fuel has reached October 2023 levels in a relatively short time. About six months ago, i.e. in the autumn of 2023, the prices of petrol and diesel began to increase day after day, even reaching 2 euros per liter before falling again. To be precise, on the days in which the peak occurred, petrol reached 1,992 euros on average, while diesel reached 1,918 euros. On that occasion, the government decided to introduce a petrol bonus to slow down the rise in fuel prices.

Fortunately, in the following days the first positive effects of the maneuver were glimpsed, thanks to which everything gradually returned to normal. However, the cost of petrol has currently started to rise again throughout Italy: today the price of fuel exceeds 1.90 euros per liter on average in self mode. Why then is it rising again? According to experts, everything depends on the speculation present on international markets, which do not guarantee a stable and balanced cost. There are also many other reasons that drive fuel prices to skyrocket, some of which are the weak global economic recovery, the war between Ukraine and Russia and various geopolitical tensions.

Another factor not to underestimate is represented by the excise duties and taxes imposed by the Italian government, which influence 60% of the final price present at the distributor. And not only that: we must also incorporate the various financial speculations, characterized by investors who bet on the trend in the price of oil. The latter therefore create a negative effect on the economy, which in turn increases fuel prices. All this obviously affects individual motorcyclists and motorists, as they are forced to spend more at the petrol station.
