UDINE (ITALPRESS) – Between the desire for redemption and the search for continuity, Udinese and Lazio ultimately drew 1-1. And there is no shortage of protests from the Biancocelesti over how Davis’ goal in the 95th minute came about, equalizing Vecino’s goal. This is the second consecutive draw for the Biancocelesti, who lack a great possibility in terms of Europe, while the Friulians fail to overtake but make up for Florence’s poor impression.
To seek a shock in this important moment for the two teams, the two coaches opt for somewhat surprising choices: there is that of Runjaic who, given the absence of Okoye due to disqualification and the doubts about Sava, relaunches the 40-year-old Padelli as starter; a technical choice, like that of Sarri, who chooses to put Castellanos (who has been fasting since the end of September due to injury) on the bench in favor of Noslin, who deserved the chance after some excellent appearances from the bench. Udinese’s desire can be seen immediately from the first corner won after twenty seconds (with Davis’ clearance, Provedel’s clearance and Karlstrom’s oversized shot) and, in general, with very aggressive pressing. Lazio struggled to move the ball around, but, the first time they succeeded, they came close to scoring with Noslin, who received between the lines and unloaded a powerful shot that chipped the post. On the other side Zaniolo tries but before the break there is room for the most delicious opportunity of the match: Belahyane throws Noslin deep taking advantage of Bertola’s bad positioning, but the Dutchman, at the moment of the shot, is closed by Kristensen’s excellent recovery. In the second half the match is more fragmented and the pace is not high. There is room for protests from Lazio over an alleged foul on Marusic in the area (but it is the Montenegrin who stumbles on the ball), to which Udinese responds shortly after by invoking a hand touch from Gila who isn’t there. The Spanish defender falls asleep with the ball at his feet in the 75th minute and loses the ball when Kamara presses, but Provedel is ready for Davis’ shot. In the 80th minute the episode that unlocks the result: Cancellieri passes the ball to Vecino, whose long-range shot, apparently without particular ambitions, is deflected decisively by Solet, who displaces Padelli. The expert goalkeeper is decisive in the recovery on Isaksen, who misses a great chance to double the lead. The Dane doesn’t close out the game and Udinese takes advantage: Davis “blocks” Zaniolo’s shot in the 95th minute but takes possession of the ball and waits for the right moment to shoot and beat Provedel. The guests’ protests were due to a possible touch from the Englishman, but for Var Gariglio the action was good and in the end it was the hosts who celebrated.
