Despite the arrival of colder air in Trentino, the risk of fires remains real, especially at medium-low altitudes. For this reason, the Civil Protection of Trentino calls for maximum caution in view of the end-of-year holidays, inviting people to limit the use, where permitted, of fireworks and other pyrotechnic materials, and in particular avoiding the launch of Chinese lanterns.
The weather conditions expected in the next few days – although characterized by cold temperatures – do not exclude situations favorable to the ignition of fires. The Civil Protection therefore invites us to strengthen prevention, information and surveillance activities in the areas most at risk. Everyone’s collaboration is essential to spend the holidays peacefully.
In support of this picture, Meteotrentino reports that after a particularly mild period, colder northern currents are affecting the Alps. Next night in the mountains, at 2000 metres, temperatures could drop to values close to or below -15°C, while in the lower valley bottoms the minimums could settle at values close to or lower than -5°C, particularly in flat and poorly ventilated areas.
Clear skies but widespread cold are expected for New Year’s Eve: in shaded and poorly ventilated areas, maximum temperatures will remain below 0°C, with possible icy days even at medium-low altitudes. During the following night, temperatures will recover slightly in the mountains, while in the poorly ventilated valleys they may still drop to values close to or below -6 °C.
Clear or cloudy skies and below-average temperatures are expected for New Year’s Eve; from the evening the low clouds will tend to increase, limiting night-time cooling.
