Past Christmas and Boxing Day, there are various initiatives for the weekend in Rome as demonstrated by the events we have published in this article. Today, Saturday 27 December, at 11:00, at the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, the Eucharistic celebration will be held with the closing rite of the Holy Door.
Considering the influx of numerous faithful, traffic difficulties are possible in the area surrounding Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano and in Piazza di Porta San Giovanni. Parking and transit bans will therefore concern Piazza Giovanni Paolo II, Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano, Piazza di Porta San Giovanni, and in the car park in front of the Scala Santa.
The holy door of the Basilica of San Paolo Fuori le Mura will close on Sunday 28 December. In consideration of the influx of numerous faithful, possible traffic difficulties in the surrounding area.
Pedestrian Imperial Forums
After Christmas and Boxing Day, however, there will be full pedestrianization of Via dei Fori Imperiali continuing on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th December, as expected on every last weekend of the month. Public transport: detour to bus lines 51, 75, 85, 87 and 118. The nMB moves at night. On Saturday 27th, route change also for the 117 (line which is not active on holidays).
Work in Eur
Until December 31st, in EUR, works are underway in Viale del Pattinaggio. Stopping and parking bans are foreseen; roadway reductions and establishment of a speed limit of 30 km/h in two different time slots: from 9am to 4pm and from 10pm to 6am. The construction site is scheduled until December 31st.
The ZTL
Until January 6th, the daytime ZTL of the Center it will be active every day from 6.30am to 6pm. On the same days, the Trident daytime service it will be in force from 6.30am to 8pm. Usual rules and times for the others City restricted traffic zones: the Trastevere daytime traffic zone; the nightlife of Trastevere, San Lorenzo, Centro and Testaccio; the Ztl Fascia Verde; the Ztl Vam. For New Year’s Eve, the extraordinary activation of the central ZTL (Centre and Trident) is planned, which will remain active without breaks from 6.30 in the morning on 31 December to 6.30 in the morning on 1 January.
