New Year’s Eve 2026 in Piazza Duomo in Catania brought joy and joy to a large audience who responded enthusiastically to the notes of Sicilian and national artists and talents, despite the incessant rain. Over eight thousand people took turns during the long evening, braving the bad weather to experience a night full of entertainment and emotions at the foot of the volcano.

The performances that followed one another on stage were engaging and appreciated, from the rock energy of Zapato from Catania with his band, to the intense repertoire of Colorindaco, through I Beddi together with Kaballà, custodians of Sicilian musical traditions, up to the always enthralling energy of Marina Rei. Great anticipation and strong participation for Delia Buglisi, Paternò’s Catania talent and X Factor finalist, who also paid homage to the maestro Franco Battiato; before the Ghali showcase which, with its unmistakable sounds, closed the New Year’s Eve musical performances in style, leaving room for the DJs of Radio Studio Centrale with music until late at night.

For four hours the artists animated the entire evening conducted on stage by Ruggero Sardo and Desirèe Ferlito who accompanied the crowd under umbrellas not only between the musical performances but also in the story of the city of Catania, its history and above all its future. Among the most significant moments was the presentation of the commercial and the logo of Catania’s candidacy as Italian Capital of Culture 2028 with strong and recognizable references to the Etna tradition. The protagonist of the night is also the Patroness Sant’Agata since 2026 will mark the nine hundredth anniversary of the return of the relics of the Saint to the city, a memory that aroused great emotion and participation among the many people of Catania present despite the adverse weather. There was no shortage of references to sport and the legacy of Etna successes left by 2025 and shortly before the midnight countdown there was also a brief greeting from the mayor Enrico Trantino from the stage with the wish for a good new year to the city.
