Violent storm, with hail in some areas, Monday afternoon in Brianza. Shortly after 2pm on Monday 1 July a storm hit Brianza, with heavy rainfall and, in some areas, even hail.
In Agrate Brianza hailstones fell for a few minutes, alternating with heavy rain. The month of July began with bad weather and a downpour. At the moment there are no problems with traffic. The Lombardy Region Civil Protection has issued a yellow code alert for Monday 1 July due to the risk of thunderstorms. The criticality warning, valid for the central plain and the area of the Milan hydraulic hub, came into effect at 2:00 pm on Monday 1 July and will end at midnight on Tuesday 2 July.

“For the remainder of today 01/07, showers and thunderstorms are expected. The most acute phase of the disturbed passage is expected to coincide with the afternoon and early evening. The precipitation is expected to move from the North-West to the South-East and is expected to end by the early hours of Tuesday 02/07. It should be noted that, in the western sectors and in Valcamonica, discontinuous phenomena are expected, locally also of moderate intensity, with peaks of cumulative precipitation of up to 30-50 mm, while in the Prealps and central-eastern plains the thunderstorm phenomena could take on a more organized and structured character, potentially also forming storm lines with peak cumulative amounts that could reach 50-80 mm and probable hail” reads the weather bulletin of the functional center for monitoring natural risks of the Lombardy Region.
“Increased ventilation is expected on the plain and in the central-eastern Prealps, with values of up to 50-60 km/h between afternoon and evening, with further temporary intensification during thunderstorms. For tomorrow 02/07, it is expected conditions of instability, which may become more pronounced from the afternoon on in the pre-Alpine area, where the activation of scattered showers and thunderstorms of mainly weak intensity cannot be ruled out. It will be possible for precipitation to decrease in the evening, with possible intensification, towards the high plain areas”.
