Marco Rossetti: who is the man who killed his mother and took his own life in Senigallia

His name is Marco Rossetti, the 51-year-old who barricaded himself in his house yesterday after killing his mother and took his own life in Cesano di Senigallia in the province of Ancona. In a photo published by National newspaper he is seen displaying a pistol in its holster. His gun license was revoked two years ago due to his mental health problems. Rossetti killed his 87-year-old mother Ornella. He did it while she was on the terrace and left the body on the balcony. Then he barricaded himself for a few hours in the house near the bridge over the Cesano river on the border with the provinces of Pesaro and Urbino. Finally, a gunshot was fired at 8.30 pm. Before killing himself he warned one of his brothers about what he had done.

Mental problems

Rossetti had long had mental problems. The alarm was raised by a neighbor who heard the first gunshot. After the revocation of his gun license, the man should not have had weapons in his home. Now the investigations will try to find out how he got it. Ornella Rossetti, a widow, was known throughout the area. The house where mother and son lived is located opposite the “Il maestrale” shopping center. The cars in the area were removed during the intervention of the police and traffic was closed in the area. Rossetti watched over his mother for hours, then she asked for the police to intervene. But in the end she decided to kill herself. The man had been hospitalized on other occasions, but without any improvement in his mental health. According to initial investigations, he and his mother would have argued for still unknown reasons.
