Apple has released updates to iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1two minor but very important updates that arrive just one week after the release of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5.

Updates to iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1 they are important because they solve the zombie photo bug (we talked about it here), a problem that occurred to some users by bringing back photos that had been deleted a long time ago, in particular cases even years before, with all the consequences that this could entail.

In the release notes, Apple explains: “This update includes important bug fixes and fixes a rare bug where photos with database corruption could reappear in the Photos library even if they were deleted.”

How to install iOS and iPadOS updates

As always, you can install the update directly from your smartphone by going to Settings > General > Software update.

After requesting the update (tap on “Download and install”), it will be downloaded. The system prepares the update and, after a few minutes, it will be installed automatically. Installing the update requires at least 50% battery or connection to a power source

iOS 17.5.1 doesn’t integrate any big new features but three interesting things, and one lost along the way.
