Florida police have released bodycam images of a sheriff’s deputy who killed a 23-year-old African-American airman. Roger Fortson, a US Air Force soldier, was talking via Facetime with his girlfriend. The Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputy knocked on the man’s door twice and claimed to be a member of law enforcement. The boy opened the door and the policeman fired six shots at him, shouting “drop the gun”. Fortson replied, “I don’t have it.” The news agency Act reports that county sheriff Eric Aden met with the victim’s family, but did not comment on the dynamics of the tragedy. “What we know is that the deputy identified himself not once, but twice,” he said. And again: «The words spoken by Fortson indicate that he was aware that there were representatives of the law at the door and he showed up with a gun in his hand. But the airman’s family claims that the sheriff’s men had gone to the wrong address: «The police went to the wrong apartment while Rogers was on the phone with his girlfriend. There was no one else in the house.”
