The deputy Piero Fassino was reported last April 15th for theft: he would have stolen a Chanel perfume worth 100 euros at the duty free shop at Fiumicino airport. «With the trolley in one hand and the cell phone in the other, not having three hands yet, I simply placed the perfume package in the pocket of my jacket» he said in his defence.

The investigations have only just begun, but on social media the story has already sparked users with memes and comments on Fassino’s official profile.
And between those who accuse him and those who defend him, the controversy seems to have just begun. The haters have already issued the sentence: Fassino is a thief. Dozens of users rushed to comment on the deputy’s latest posts, certain of his guilt.
Some were heavy-handed with the insults, others preferred to be ironic: “But do you happen to know if white Fahrenheit is back in stock?” and again «Piero, if you find yourself going back to the duty free, can you get me a paco rabanne for mum? Birthday coming soon
