As you well know by now, the next-gen upgrade for Fallout 4 was published in the last few hours, i.e. a free update for all owners of the game that allows you to make the most of the latest generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Let’s find out together how to upgrade on Sony and Microsoft consoles.
From PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5
If you own a copy of Fallout 4 for PlayStation 4 (except the one obtained through PlayStation Plus, which is not valid for this procedure), the procedure to follow to perform the free upgrade is slightly different than the usual one. In this case, in fact, it is not necessary to redeem a product on the PlayStation Store, since the two versions of the game are not separate, just as is the case with many recent titles. This means that all you need to do is go to the PlayStation Store or library and proceed with downloading the game: a screen will appear through which you can choose whether to download the PS4 or PS5 version. If you have a physical copy, the procedure is the same but the disc must be inserted into the console both to proceed with the download and to start the PS5 version.
From Xbox One to Xbox Series
If you are a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass or have the digital version of Fallout 4, all you have to do is download the game from the library: thanks to the Smart Delivery, the next-gen version will automatically be downloaded.
