Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has decided to launch a warning from his social media profiles to the “capitals of the world”, including Rome and Paris, about the risk of potential attacks by Iran. To do so, he first posted an image of the Colosseum about to be hit by six missiles and then a video of the same tone but with the Eiffel Tower as the background.

The photo of the Colosseum

The first photo was posted on April 20 and is a photo of the Colosseum on which six missiles are about to hit with the words “Iranian missiles: they are coming to a city near you” and “Stop Iran now before it’s too late “. Accompanying the image, Katz writes: “Iran’s recent attack on Israel is just a preview of what cities around the world can expect if the Iranian regime is not stopped.” The minister then launches a call to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guards “a terrorist organization”, as well as “sanctioning the Iranian ballistic missile program”.

The video with the Eiffel Tower

Today Katz released the exact same message – “Stop Iran now before it’s too late” – written in English, French and Hebrew and tagging US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Italian Minister Antonio Tajani and their German counterparts, French and English. This time there is a video in the post: in the background the Eiffel Tower and in the foreground the quiet scene of a gentleman with a croissant and a cappuccino, suddenly interrupted by a gunshot.

The post about missiles

A few hours later the minister asked his EU counterparts “to impose sanctions on the Iranian missile project”. Writing in X, Katz added that “the project endangers the world. Iran must be stopped before it is too late.” Iranian missiles, he recalled by posting a map with a trajectory pointing towards Europe, “have a range of up to 3 thousand kilometres”. Then the writing: “Who will be next?”.

Tajani: “Avoid panic”

He does not say he is worried but invites Minister Tajani to “avoid panic”, reiterating his commitment to de-escalation and not ruling out a conversation with the Iranian minister “in the next few days”. “I don’t think there is any possibility of an attack on the West” by Iran “which also makes serious mistakes but we must avoid creating panic”, underlined the head of Foreign Affairs, adding that “more than worrying we need to worry about “. Tajani then recalled the recent G7 meeting, where they worked for “de-escalation by trying to use all possible diplomatic tools to prevent the situation from worsening”, reiterating the commitment to “continue working to achieve the ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages and humanitarian aid for the civilian population.” The final objective, he insisted, “is not to erase Israel, a friend of Italy”, but to have “two peoples and two states that recognize each other”.
