The suspect in the murder of the girl found dead in the woods near Aosta is already on trial for acts of violence against the victim. This is what the French newspapers Le Dauphiné Libéré and Le Progrés report. The man will have to appear before the Grenoble Correctional Court for these charges in a few weeks. The search for him is underway, right in the Grenoble area, as part of the murder investigation opened by the Aosta prosecutor’s office. At the moment he has not yet been traced by the Gendarmerie.
They are focused on one young man born in Italy the search for the possible murderer, ANSA has learned. The investigations – a murder case has been opened – are conducted by the Aosta carabinieri and coordinated by the prosecutor Manlio D’Ambrosi and the chief prosecutor Luca Ceccanti. According to the autopsy, the young woman, a twenty-two-year-old French woman, was stabbed to death. The wanted boy, of Egyptian origins, had been seen with her in the days before her crime. The searches – according to what ANSA has learned – are concentrated in the Grenoble area.
The victim was 22 years old and lived in France, near Lyon. Some of her relatives, who arrived in Aosta, recognized her. The investigators maintain the strictest confidentiality about the victim’s identity so as not to jeopardize the investigations. From the autopsy – conducted by the Turin pathologist Roberto Testi – it emerged that the young woman died following wounds caused by several stab wounds to the neck and abdomen. In particular, the blows near her throat caused a fatal hemorrhage. The death could date back to the period between the end of March and the first days of April: it is difficult to indicate the exact date, the relatively low temperatures of those days preserved the body well. The body was found in the former small church in the Equilivaz hamlet of La Salle, a bush village that has been abandoned for years.
The girl, who was touring Europe, wearing a beige sweatshirt and a pair of leggings, was curled up on the ground in a fetal position. Next to her is a pack of marshmallows and scattered rubbish. Various blood stains around. According to the autopsy, the blows were inflicted from the front. These are not clear wounds, the hypothesis is that it was a crime of impulse. The girl was then dragged into the former church, where she was found last Friday by a local person who was taking a walk.

They told me they had arrived from the Swiss border. They were looking for a large supermarket to do their shopping. And then they wanted to go camping in the mountains. He always spoke. He expressed himself in good Italian, even if he didn’t sound Italian. He was much younger than her, I’m not saying underage but almost. He didn’t seem like a violent guy, far from it. He didn’t even look like someone with a drug problem.”
The carabinieri – coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Manlio D’Ambrosi – are on the trail of the young man. He almost certainly fled abroad, the tunnels to France and Switzerland are not far away. Perhaps aboard a red/burgundy van that was parked for a few days in a lay-by on state road 26, right where the path leading to the abandoned village starts.
