The British rock group “The Feeling” dedicates its new album to the city of San Vito

“The Feeling” are back with the single “The Right Wrong”, taken from their upcoming album “San Vito”. The British rock group, composed of Dan Gillespie Sells, Richard Jones, Kevin Jeremiah, Ciaran Jeremiah and Paul Stewart, have revealed details of their new work, which will arrive this April as the follow-up to 2022’s “Loss. Hope. Love.”

Recorded and self-produced in a studio in southern Italy, in Puglia, the album title is a tribute to the city of San Vito Dei Normanniwhere the band spent time immersed in local culture and pizzica, which influenced the sound of the record.

In a statement, the band said: “2023 was a big year for us. Dan left Doghouse, our long-time base and studio, so in January we decided to try something different and headed to a studio in the Salento region of Puglia, southern Italy, to write some songs and see what it happened. Just like when we first recorded ‘Twelve Stops…’ in Kev and Ciaran’s parents’ shed, being locked together and focused on our creativity as a band has been a winning formula. After the first week we came back with five songs and a vibe on the recordings that was exciting, fresh and very ‘The Feeling’!”

They continued: “We made the decision to write and record the entire album there, and over the course of the year we went back, with the album coming together in no time. The sun, food and culture infiltrated the sounds we were making. We involved local brass, string and pizzica/tarantella percussionists. It’s very much a The Feeling album but with a bit of Salento flavor mixed in, and we’re very excited for you all to hear it.”

The new single addresses the theme of liberation from judgments, as frontman Dan, already co-author of the music for the successful musical “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie”, says: “Freedom is a topic that fascinates me. I grew up queer in a queer household, so people’s ideas of right and wrong were something we dealt with on a daily basis. This is just a pure pop song that playfully encourages the listener to make their own rules.”

‘San Vito’ – which will include some collaborations – “focuses on themes such as relationships, LGBTQ+ community issues and sexual freedom.”

The new album comes as the wife of one of the band members, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, is having a renaissance moment of her own after her hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ was included in a viral scene in the film ‘Saltburn’.

The full album will be available from April 12th and will be followed by a UK tour in May.
