Prime Video, a film released in cinemas this summer is available

Zombie movies aren’t what they used to be. Fortunately, there are some exceptions.

The Walking Dead, World War Z, Zombieland, Train to Busan, Resident Evil: the 1910s coincided with a new life for the monster brought to the cinema by George A. Romero in Night of the Living Dead (1968). It is common opinion that the director invented the modern zombie by drawing on Haitian tradition, but a further evolution coincided with the cinema release of 28 days laterdirected by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting) and written by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War). In the 2002 film, zombies are the result of a virus and move fast, aggressively. The staging with the handheld camera anticipates the found-footage experiments of RECwhile the famous opening sequence, with a deserted London, has been linked to both 9/11 and Covid.

I watch films and play video games, from a certain point in life I also started writing about them. I am fascinated by the remote corners of the internet, the graphics of the first 3D video games and the images that fall under the not at all defined umbrella of the term aesthetic, with respect to which I carry out a compulsive cataloging activity that has as its point of arrival some Instagram profiles. However, the TV series with the best aesthetics (and the best overall) is The X-Files, which I never ended up not conceiving the thought “there are no more episodes of The X-Files to watch for the rest of my life”. Same thing with Evangelion (the manga).
