We’re still a year and a half away from the release of Avatar 3but the curiosity about the next film by James Cameron it is already a lot, so much so that there are inevitable theories and hypotheses circulating online about the possible implications of the story. Filmed in tandem with Avatar: The Way of Waterthe third film will be released on December 19, 2025 and will continue to explore the civilizations and ecosystems of the planet Pandora.
As anticipated in recent months, it seems that in Avatar 3 we will get to know a new clan of Na’vi linked to volcanic lands, called “Ash People“. They will oppose the Omatikaya, the clan of Jake Sully and Neytiri, and the Metkayina, the Na’vi of the marine environments we met in the second chapter. All against the backdrop of the war between the natives of Pandora and the human forces of the RDA, which will continue as a common thread throughout the story.
Second Jack Championinterpreter of Spiderswho turned out to be the son of Colonel Quaritch, in Avatar 3 fans will then witness a “devastating” twist which will leave everyone speechless. Cameron himself also anticipated that the third film will consist of a sort of closure of the story we have followed so far, then opening the doors to a second phase of the story which finally foresees the arrival of the Na’vi on Earth.
But what would be the much vaunted explosive twist? According to some theories it could be the death of the protagonist Jake Sully.
Cameron himself would have disseminated the clues with some statements. First of all, in January 2023 he confirmed that the narrator of Avatar 3 it will no longer be Jake’s, but his son’s Lo’akwhich in The way of water he proved instrumental due to his connection with the tulkun Payakan. The director also confirmed that the characters of Kiri And Spiders will be fundamental in the sequel, and more space will also be given to Neytiriwho should also visit Earth at the end of the story.
No mention, however, of the protagonist of the franchise played by Sam Worthington: in short, everything suggests that we could soon say goodbye to Jake Sully and that the third film could act as a passing of the baton, making the Na’vi of the new generation the absolute protagonists.
