Zack Snyder is focusing on a new sci-fi universe at home Netflixwith the second part of Rebel Moon finally available on streaming and the hope of being able to continue exploring so many stories and characters. In the meantime, however, the director has shared some unpublished aspects of the plot that he had thought of Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot. His intention was to create a prequel on Diana Prince in the previous DCEU which has now been dismantled. The project was never realized: to date, moreover, the figure of Wonder Woman is currently on stand-by. Gal Gadot doesn’t know if she’ll ever return to the big screen to play the Amazon warrior, also because James Gunn has never officially confirmed her involvement. If she had the chance, Zack Snyder told what she would have been there plot of Wonder Woman 1854.

Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder reveals details of the never-made prequel

Even though Wonder Woman has already made a second film set in the past, Zack Snyder would have liked to delve even further into her origins by traveling back in time to 1854. In Wonder Woman 1984, the protagonist finds herself on a new adventure in the colorful 80s. Zack Snyder’s idea, however, was to drag Diana Prince into the 1854exploring his relationship with Aresthe god of war introduced in the first film and played by David Thewlis. It would therefore have brought an enemy of hers back into the game, but also deepened Wonder Woman’s adventures away from Themyscira. The title, rather simple at this point, was supposed to be Wonder Woman 1854 and, in an interview with Empirethe director told more about the plot he would have covered:

My idea was that she would travel the world looking for Ares and go to every place where there was conflict. On those battlefields she found lovers, warriors, who grew old because she is immortal. They were her lovers for ten years or they could die in battle, and she would be sad for many of them… but they were loyal warriors that she found on battlefields around the world. We talked about the presence of Steve Trevor in Crimea. It never became a script, but we talked about it so much that it had a life of its own.

Today that film seems to be light years away, also because Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has been put on the bench and the third film so desired by Patty Jenkins it won’t materialize anytime soon. According to rumors, the third film directed by Jenkins would have brought Diana Prince to the present day after what happened in Justice League and it would also have involved the Batman Of Ben Affleck.
