The remake of Toy Story 2 in Unreal Engine is beautiful, watch the video

A new project has caught the attention of retro video game fans and nostalgic Toy Story fans: the graphic remake of Toy Story 2: Woody and Buzz to the Rescue! made by skilled developer James Bushall using Unreal Engine 5. The result? An enhanced visual experience that takes players on a journey through the world of toys with revised graphics.


Bushall invested approximately 200 hours to create a prototype of the game, faithfully recreating some of the original levels and reproducing the basic gameplay dynamics. Through the preview video, we can admire the attention to detail and attention to design that characterize this ambitious project.

The original game, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, was a hit when it was released between 1999 and 2000 across multiple platforms, including PS1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, and PC. Made by Traveller’s Tale and published by Activision, the game was partially based on the events of the Pixar film Toy Story 2.

In Bushall’s remake, players will be able to relive the adventures of Buzz Lightyear through fifteen action-packed levels. Using the mythical character’s various abilities, such as the wrist laser and the wings of his space suit, players will explore the levels far and wide to complete objectives and earn Pizza Planet coins.

Despite the excitement aroused by this remake, there is one important aspect to consider: at the moment, There are no plans for a public release of the game due to possible legal issues. However, Bushall is continuing to work on the project, promising graphical improvements in future releases.
