(ANSA) – AOSTA, JULY 19 – The great fire that broke out in the afternoon in Aymavilles (Aosta) and fueled by the wind does not stop. As a precautionary measure, the family home in Saint-Léger was evacuated: the 35 guests, elderly and non-self-sufficient people, are taken to Aosta. There are 66 firefighters at work to protect the towns and contain the fire: all those available have been called back to service and will take turns in night operations. As a precaution, the CTO of Turin and the night helicopter have been put on pre-alert. There are currently no people involved. Cogne is currently isolated due to the closure of the regional road that connects it to Aymavilles. To allow the people stranded in the locality to descend to the valley, a convoy will be organized from 10 pm, escorted by the carabinieri and the local police, which will leave from the Epinel hamlet to Aymavilles, along regional road number 47. Upon arrival, in Aymavilles , there will be a later convoy uphill. A doctor has been flown into the village by helicopter and there are two ambulances at the scene. The civil protection has made it known that it has prepared the possibility of equipping the locality with some generators for the electricity supply in the next few hours. The president of the Valle d’Aosta Region, Renzo Testolin, is at the headquarters of the single rescue centre, in Saint-Christophe, where operations are coordinated. (HANDLE).
