On July 5th, at the Hotel Salina in Taranto, the Uilm Taranto Territorial Council will be held, with the participation of the Uilm national secretary, Rocco Palombella. The assembly will begin at 9:00 and will continue until 13:00 with a series of scheduled interventions.

The central theme of the meeting will be “Resilience and Renewal – the Taranto disputes and the future of the metalworkers’ contract”. At the center of the discussion will be the ongoing negotiations for the renewal of the national metalworkers’ contract, with the need, underlined by Uilm, to guarantee “higher wages, fewer hours” for workers in the sector. A request that, as the union explains, intends to “change a paradigm of mortification of the workplace that has been going on for decades”.

During the meeting, the main disputes in Taranto will also be addressed, from the former Ilva to the difficulties of the Leonardo Grottaglie site. The meeting will be introduced by the general secretary of Uilm Taranto, Davide Sperti. In addition to the RSU and RLS of Uilm, Alfio Zaurito, coordinator of Uilm Puglia, and Pietro Pallini, coordinator of Uil Taranto, will also speak. The conclusions will be entrusted to the national general secretary of Uilm, Rocco Palombella.
