For a few weeks, posters of Lenin and flags of Palestine visible in a former shop on Via Paolo Ferrari have intrigued, among others, the flows of tourists visiting the “Enzo Ferrari” museum. On a sunny afternoon, Saturday 22 June, about a hundred people took part in the inauguration of the launch headquarters of the Revolutionary Communist Party in Modena.
To the rhythm of four hours of fighting songs, good humor and delicious crescentine, workers and students who have been protagonists of many of the most important mobilizations of recent years in the province of Modena have gathered to celebrate this step forward in the construction of a party capable of the tasks of fighting against capitalism.
Around 7 pm, Francesco Giliani, representing the local section, and Alessandro Giardiello, representing the national executive, spoke briefly, recalling some moments of our political journey in Modena and underlining the need to combine rigor in Marxist theoretical training and the ability to intervene in the struggles of the working class. As soon as the speeches were over, all the comrades present launched, at the top of their lungs, the verses of Bandiera Rossa.
During the initiative, the general enthusiasm was also reflected in a thousand euros collected, between donations for the headquarters and purchases of political material.
Over the past year, the Modena section has helped organize the most popular local march for Palestine, actively participated in the Maserati workers’ fight against redundancy payments, and increased its membership by 30%, building its first nucleus in the Bassa and strengthening itself especially among students. The new headquarters will help us become even more of a point of reference for young people and workers who want to fight for communism.
