ROVIGO – The update of the App has started “The Portolan of the Po”, active since 2022, a tool full of data and information available to anyone who frequents the Po and to enhance the unique features that the Great River and its territory offer.
The App is further renewed by providing for the inclusion of additional services for those navigating the Po River and the Po Grande Biosphere. The App will in fact be enriched with a digital nautical chart and a real-time information service on the bathymetric conditions of the Po river, as well as on the status of signs on land and in the water.
Useful information will also be available on the Po museums and on the protected areas present in the Biosphere, which will be integrated with the contents currently provided.
The Portolano del Po is the result of a collaboration born in 2022 between the Po River Basin District Authority (Adbpo) and the Interregional Agency for the Po River (AIPo) to promote the territory of the Po Grande Biosphere.
To present the contents of the new application and gather users’ opinions, two meetings were held with shipowners and boaters on the Po River, the first in Cavanella d’Adige di Chioggia (Ve), at the operational headquarters of Infrastrutture Venete, and the second in Cremona, at the headquarters of the Motonautica Associazione Cremona MAC.
The idea of having an application where you can find the information needed for safe navigation was greatly appreciated by users. The hope is that the Portolano can also be extended to the navigable stretches of the Po tributaries.
The update and implementation operations are underway and the new information services will be available from the beginning of 2025.
