On stage a theatrical performance with music in the open air dedicated to civil rights and plant rights according to the Charter of Human Rights. In the stage of Tuesday 2 July 2024 of the review “Urban Fantastic” curated by Cantiere Obraz. At 7.00 pm in Florence with “Natureism: Plants and Rights”at Horticulture Garden, in Via Vittorio Emanuele II, number 4 (District 5), starting from the Horticulture Library, inside the garden itself. With the scientific intervention of the landscape architect Gianna Galgani and the live music of Giovanni Pecchioli’s clarinet.
“Natureism” takes place in the green areas of the Arboreal Heritage of the City of Florence. Conceived by Alessandra Comanducci and Paolo Ciotti. With Michela Cioni, Thomas Harris, Antonella Longhitano, Camilla Pieri. A total of five performances for the climate realized in green areas of the city, in which it is possible to underline the role of green spaces in the urban context. Five performative events that, divided into as many themes, lead citizens to reflect on the conditions of the planet by comparing the biological intelligence of plants and human behavior.

The city will be the main protagonist of “Fantastic Urban”the large container of events with which Cantiere Obraz addresses a wide audience of adults and children to get to know Florence through three different itineraries: “Natureism”, “Fantastic Florentines” e “Metropolis”.
From June 25 to September 15, 2024, the Florentine cultural association for theater training and production proposes its summer with a full of cultural and artistic events with free admission within the Estate Fiorentina.
“Urbano Fantastico” contains sixteen performative and theatrical events spread throughout all the neighborhoods. The city is the fulcrum of the investigation of this third edition which will be an opportunity to discover and enhance the peculiarities of Florence and its material and immaterial heritage, but also an opportunity for reflection on the function of the city for humanity.
“The city is the greatest invention of man – explain the two artistic directors, Alessandra Comanducci and Paolo Ciotti – it is a vital and constantly moving laboratory in which human creativity proliferates and life, humanity and progress are produced thanks to exchanges and the valorization of differences. The city that produces possibilities and community is urban”.
«In “Urbano Fantastico” – they underline – the frontal view of the theatre dissolves in favour of a circular fruition in which the public is involved at all levels through direct participation».
Cantiere Obraz takes theatre out of the theatre halls and spreads it throughout the city spaces, alternating unusual urban itineraries far from the logic of traditional tourism with more well-known places, with the aim of counteracting the distance of citizens from the urban space in which they live immersed.
The space of the theater is the whole city: this is the artistic line that Cantiere Obraz has been proposing for some years now, in a succession of actions, urban walking, theatrical performances, “invasions” of parks and spaces dedicated to the young generations.
In detail: Naturesimo contains theatrical performances at the green giants in parks and gardens and Fantastic Florentines offers urban walking to discover great geniuses (Margherita Hack, (Giorlamo Savonarola, Amerigo Vespucci, Carlo Collodi, Giuseppe Poggi, Leonardo Da Vinci). Both discovering new places, themes and characters. “Metropolis – Urban Democracy Labs” is a new cultural action on citizenship, a complex participatory project between theatre and civic education, composed of animations for children on voting and democratic practice and assembly shows between adult citizens and artists, on the theme of the ideal city.
The artistic direction of the project is by Alessandra Comanducci and Paolo Ciotti, created thanks to the creative contribution and collaboration of the other members of Cantiere Obraz: Michela Cioni, Thomas Harris, Antonella Longhitano and Camilla Pieri. The Fantastic Urban project – Discovering the city, in Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 is part of “Estate Fiorentina 2024 – initiative proposed in the Operational Plan of the City of Florence”. The initiatives are agreed with the Culture Directorates of the 5 Florentine neighborhoods.
