Pavia, 1 July 2024 – A prayer for little Munib. They met today, Monday 1 July, at 1.30 pm, in the room used as a mosque in via San Giovannino, for a moment of prayer for the 18-month-old child who fell from the balcony of the fourth-floor apartment in via Cascina Spelta late Friday afternoon and died in hospital the following night.

Father Haider Mohamed Omar23 year old from Sudan, who has lived in Pavia for three years with his wife Raiga Abaker Mohamed Boushcontemporary and compatriot, he has not yet obtained the authorization to organize the funeral rite and the burialwhich according to the Islamic religion should be done as soon as possible.

“This morning – reports the young parent, visibly tired and exhausted, accompanied by fellow countrymen friends – we went first to the police station, then to the prefecture, then to the court and there they finally told us that they had done everything, everything was fine, but we still lack the authorization, which we hope to be able to have tomorrow“.

The death of little Munib, even after the police investigations, was a tragic fatality, an accident without any responsibility and without suspects. But before being able to have the go-ahead for burial, an autopsy must be performed, ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office.

“They said they’ve done everything – reiterates one of the friends who accompanied the father to the judicial offices in the morning – but the authorization is still missing. In the meantime we have organized a prayer for 1:30 p.m., with the imamam, while waiting to be able to organize the funeral rite”.
