On the sidelines of the dress rehearsal, former jockey Dario Colagè, known as Bufera, stopped by Siena TV to talk about his victorious debut as a jockey in Piazza del Campo in 1989 with Lupa, on Vipera: “I hardly get emotional, I could touch the sky with my fingers – he says – it’s not for everyone to debut with a horse like Vipera, hearing hundreds of people singing behind you is exciting, you feel the warmth of a contrada around you”.
The good and the bad of this Palio for the Bufera: “There are two guys who are making their debut, it’s nice and positive – he adds – in the race I had the experience of three out of three horses being put out, that’s the bad thing”.
The moves and controversies raised so far: “There are rules, perhaps it would have been better if for the trade, given that there are kids, the mover had come forward to avoid accidents, and then from the tests onwards make a frank speech – this is Colage’s reasoning – that is, I throw the rope down when the glue enters the verrocchino. As a jockey I take note of it, then if I make a mistake I pay. You can’t do six young moves for the rehearsals, and what should I do on the evening of the Palio? This way we risk a mess, I admire the mover but everyone is wrong, I hope there is clarity for tomorrow” hopes Colage.
Career prediction: “La Pantera has a horse that is great, Enrico is determined and they work well, the horse is easy, I think he can do a great Palio and win”.
