It was supposed to be a relaxing holiday in the Red Sea. A way to unwind and enjoy enchanting landscapes. Davide Baggio, 56 years old, originally from Cusinati di Tezze sul Brenta, then moved to Cittadella (Padua), died following a serious car accident that occurred on June 29 in the seaside resort of Hurghada in Egypt.
As Padovaoggi reports, according to a first summary reconstruction carried out by the Egyptian police, the man was in the car with his wife Chiara Tombolato when he went off the road. The 56-year-old died practically instantly, the woman was stabilized and transported to hospital in desperate conditions. The next few days will be decisive to evaluate the recovery margins.
The victim
Davide Baggio was well known in the world of sports associations for having been president of the Panathlon of Cittadella and on the board of the Maratoneti Cittadellesi association. He was in love with the world of running and still trained to participate in marathons and half marathons. His death left speechless all those who knew him and appreciated his human and professional qualities.
The mayor of Cittadella Luca Pierobon remembered him like this: «As soon as they informed me of the tragedy – he said – I was speechless. Davide was a friend, a glue in the world of Cittadella sports and beyond. He knew how to transmit enthusiasm, he never held back when it was time to organize something for his beloved Cittadella. On behalf of the municipal administration, but also of the community of Cittadella, I extend my deepest condolences to his closest loved ones»
