Antonio Cassano analyzed Italy’s elimination from the European Championships in no uncertain terms. Fantantonio does not condemn Spalletti but underlines the team’s responsibilities and the attitude shown.
Anthony Cassano speaks of a “disaster accomplished” on the social channels of Viva el Futbol regarding the elimination of theItalia from the round of 16 of the Europeans against Switzerland. The former Italian striker’s opinion on Spalletti’s national team is very harsh. Fantantonio points the finger at the quality of the squad, at the attitude of the players seen during the four matches of the European Championships without however condemning Spalletti’s actions: “I told the coach that the national team was weak and would be a tough nut to crack but I will always be by his side because he is a genius.”
Cassano however adds another concept and defines Italy in no uncertain terms: “Let’s get shit done, this is the reality of the facts – explains -. We sucked without personality without quality without an idea without balls, without anything. In Italy we think about speculating about not wanting to play and yet we had a genius on the bench, but obviously the coach couldn’t do more than that because then in reality those half-players who say they are good should come out and instead we make shit.” He then concludes: “The most disgusting thing is the insults of some newspapers.”
The reference was clearly to the title of the newspaper Libero which certainly went down hard: “Go dig.” Cassano did not accept this type of attack: “The most disgusting and scandalous thing is that some newspapers allow themselves to offend or personally offend both the coach and the boys with big headlines. These people should be ashamed.” For Cassano the fact remains that playing in this way there is no guarantee for the future of the national team: “If he must offer this then I tell you, that is the World Cup is in danger again”.
