VENICE: NOT ONLY A SPECIAL LAW BUT MORE PROTECTIONS

Venice like Rome? Almost. Attention, no independence aims, indeed Veneto is now focused on autonomy, the mother of all battles for President Zaia. Which however asks that special attention be paid to the Venetian capital, precisely by virtue of its particularity and its fragility.

Our thoughts, obviously, can only go to the Special Law, which expires in 2024 and which must be refinanced. Because at stake is the survival of the city, its beauties and the entire lagoon.

The city is asking for 150 million per year for the next ten years, a figure that will be very difficult to obtain.

However, Zaia is not only referring to the Special Law.

And then all the other problems: starting from tourism management, on which we have begun to intervene with the experimentation of the access fee. A measure, obviously, alone is not sufficient to combat the phenomenon.

In short, the future of the city is at stake: not a playground left at the mercy of tourists but the Venetian capital, one of the greatest jewels in history which deserves to have a future worthy of, at least, its past.
