ROVIGO – It’s history once again for Itas Mutua Rovigo. With the victory in Parma in game 1 against Crocetta Parma, the opponent that could have taken first place away from the Polesani, President Boniolo’s team goes to the championship qualifiers and already reaches the highest result in the history of red and blue baseball.
With a clear 16 to 2, Itas Mutua definitely put an end to the feat which was by no means a given in what has been defined as the most difficult group in the entire Italian Serie A.
In the evening match, however, the stop came, completely irrelevant, 4 to 2 in favor of the home team.
Now comes the good part because for on 13 July the federation has scheduled the qualifying round for the quarter-finals for the scudetto against Reggio Emilia, winner of one of the 4 qualifying groups and Itas Mutua has 2 significant problems to deal with on the table.
The first of all is that the 2 best pitchers of the Rovigo staff will not be in the squad, that is Giacomo Taschin and Matteo Marelli both with the Italian national team at the Under 18 European Championships which will be held in Germany until July 14th.
The other one concerns the Via Vittorio Veneto facility which is unusable due to the exemption that cannot be granted to play the championship play-offs and consequently it will be necessary to play in Reggio Emilia.

We will see the results of a request made to the Veneto Region regarding the lighting of the softball field but in the next two weeks we will really find ourselves in great logistical difficulty on the one hand and in the possibility of presenting ourselves at our best on the other.”
For the record in game 1 Soto Diaz’s boys, after finding themselves behind in the 2nd, on Manuel Piazza’s two-run single, overtook in the 3rd with a passed ball and a great double by Exposito. Supported on the mound by relievers Marelli and Taschin, the Rovigo boys built their success with hits (in the end there were 17, three of which scored each by Bravo, Salvatore, Exposito, Lorenzo Taschin and Dreni). Itas put together 11 runs between the third and sixth, to close with another 5 in the 8th for the 16-2 showdown. With the pass in their pocket, Rovigo alternated four pitchers in game 2, against Crocetta who fielded Borella starting in place of Carrillo, who scored a winning relief (3bv-9so in 6rl). After a back-and-forth at 2nd, Farma Crocetta resolved the match with a triple by Covati, a single by Zoni and a double by Gerali. Bernardi’s point set the final score at 4-2 for the Emilians. Excellent relief by the young Giorgio Frigato.
