Railways: Brawl between two passengers on train from Trento to Bassano

Yesterday evening, on the train that left Trento at 5.05pm and was headed to Bassano, a fight broke out between two passengers between the Trento Santa Chiara and Trento San Bartolomeo stations.

The Filt CGIL of Trentino reports that, thanks to the promptness of the train manager, who isolated the litigants and alerted the police, no other passengers or workers were involved.

“The dynamics of the argument between two passengers on board the train that quickly turned into a brawl are still unclear; fortunately no passenger or worker was involved, thanks also to the promptness of the train conductor on duty who, realizing the gravity of the situation, removed all the passengers, isolating the two and immediately alerted the police. However, it was not possible to identify the two protagonists, because they quickly fled before the police arrived,” reads a note reported by ANSA.

Filt Cgil denounces the lack of safety on provincial trainsunderlining the absence of police escorts, particularly on the Valsugana line.

“It is yet another episode that demonstrates the lack of safety that exists on trains and in particular on provincial lines” he denounces.

The trade union organization asks for a structural preventive plan from the PAT and the institutions to monitor and manage such situations, given the growing presence of annoying passengers, especially during the summer.

“Today – he adds – on the routes covered by the Pat service contract there is a single police office in the Trento station, there are no longer police escorts on the train, in particular on the Valsugana line where no later than Friday 28th the chief train had to call the police due to a troublesome traveller, creating delays and cancellations.

The Valsugana line, in summer thanks to Lake Caldonazzo and Levico, records a considerable number of passengers, however in several cases we have been told of troublesome travelers in a state of alteration even before accessing the train who then give the worst of themselves on board.

This is therefore not just a problem limited to the train but has turned into a social problem, we therefore ask that the Pat and the institutions implement a preventive structural plan that allows these situations to be monitored upstream” they conclude.
