Intesa Sanpaolo, the new business project with the inmates of the Como prison

(LaPresse) A new business project in prison promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo, the first Italian banking group positioned at the top in the world for social impact and European leader in sustainable finance, is starting at the Como prison. The initiative, which represents a virtuous model of collaboration between private and public entities, was presented together with the Como prison, Don Gino Rigoldi, the regional Superintendency and the client companies engaged by the bank’s Regional Management. The project, coordinated by the Business Sales & Marketing Department led by Anna Roscio, aims to encourage meetings between businesses and workers trained at the laboratory built inside the prison. In addition to Intesa Sanpaolo, the prison and the regional administration, it also involves the MekTech group, specialized in the design and construction of robotic systems and systems, and the Ozanam cooperative, which facilitates the job placement of people in difficulty. The program allows eleven inmates to specialize in the creation of complex electrical panels commissioned by MekTech. The inmates will receive technical training for the issue of a certificate of participation in the course for electrician cabling technician and a job opportunity, contributing to their social rehabilitation and reintegration into professional life. This professionalizing path offers prisoners a chance for employment once they have served their sentence. Intesa Sanpaolo, through the Regional Management and the Corporate Sales & Marketing Management, structures of the Banca dei Territori Division led by Stefano Barrese, promoted the project in the Como penitentiary institute. Support for the world of prison is part of a broad program of social commitment for the inclusion of the most vulnerable in the world of work, reduction of inequalities and fight against poverty, as desired by CEO Carlo Messina. The initiative was possible thanks to the involvement of Intesa Sanpaolo per il Sociale, within the Chief Social Impact Officer area led by Paolo Bonassi, which creates alliances and partnerships between the profit and non-profit, public and private sectors. MekTech, a technological industrial group based in Giussano (MB), has committed to purchasing the electrical panels made by prisoners in the coming years. The collaboration with Ozanam is fundamental, as it has been dealing with job placement paths for vulnerable people for over 30 years. The project presented today at the Como Prison is a bridge between prison and society, a program that integrates public and private to bring work and training in a logic of people’s recovery and reintegration into society. Today’s meeting saw the participation of the Undersecretary of Justice Andrea Ostellari, Maria Milano Regional Superintendent of Lombardy, and the CEO of Mektech.
