Agreement signed for the enhancement of the AIB device
The prefect of Potenza, Michele Campanaro, the president of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi, and the regional director of the Fire Brigade, Vincenzo Salvatore Ciani, have signed an agreement in recent days for the strengthening of the AIB – forest firefighting 2024 device of the Fire Brigade fire.
The document, which will be operational until 15 September, concerns in particular six areas divided by geographical, climatic and vegetation characteristics: the Vulture-Melfese area, the area of the regional capital, the area of the Val d’Agri and the Tyrrhenian coast, the area of Pollino and southern Matera (Sinnica), northern area of the province of Matera, central area of the province of Matera and Ionian coast.
With a flexible program assessed on the basis of specific needs, identified by the individual provincial commands, the use of forest fire-fighting teams, patrols from the Fire-fighting Operations Directorate (DOS), two nautical units and – for fifteen days during the period of greatest tourist influx – a water rescue team from the National Fire Brigade is planned.
Also planned are the strengthening of the operations rooms of the provincial commands of Potenza and Matera and the collaboration with the permanent unified operations room of the civil protection of Basilicata, which is entrusted with the coordination of all fire-fighting activities.

I therefore express my utmost satisfaction for the signing, again this year, of the Forest Fire Fighting Convention, which guarantees a decisive strengthening of the action to prevent and combat forest fires, with the use of the most qualified professionals by far. , those of our national fire brigade”, declared the prefect on the sidelines of the meeting.
