He deserved at least that! Attractive and bucolic, a magnificent village in the North located only one hour from Lille will have a timbre edited by mail in his honour.
An hour from Lille, the French’s favorite village will have its stamp
This village, you may have recognized it, is Escquelbecqelected “The Favorite Village of the French” in 2023, during the France 3 show presented by Stéphane Bern. “Crossed by the Yser and nestled in the countryside of French Flanders, Esquelbecq was elected in 2023 as much for its rich historical heritage with its Flemish Renaissance castle or the Saint-Folquin church as for the authenticity of its festive and cultural traditions”, breathes Stéphane Bern.
The stamp will be sold in preview at the Ancienne Minoterie d’Escquelbecq (3 bis rue de Bergues) on Friday 12 (from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and Saturday July 13 (from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.). It can also be found at Carré d’Encre in Paris.
The face value of the stamp will be €1.29.
From July 15, 2024, it will be sold in many post offices, by subscription or by mail order.
