Stat: the two lines from Vercelli to Liguria and the Adriatic are back

The two Stat lines return to the Italian coasts: unchanged costs and an important anniversary. From July daily trips to Sanremo.

It was June 1964 when a bus with the Stat insignia left for Cattolica on the Adriatic Riviera. The vehicle was a 44-seater Fiat 306, a cutting-edge jewel in terms of technology and comfort for the time, and the fact that it was not an ordinary trip was also confirmed by the travellers: the authorities of the Provinces of Vercelli and Pavia, the directors of the Provincial Tourism Board, local journalists and the president of Stat Severino Scagliotti. It was the inaugural journey of a bus connection that since then would have inextricably linked Eastern Piedmont to the Adriatic Riviera. The following year the departure of that line was brought to Biella in the configuration which it still has today after 60 years. And a few years later the Aosta – Ivrea – Vercelli – Trino – Casale – Varazze – Sanremo line was also activated in its definitive form.

The two services resumed in June 2024 with characteristics now well known to the public, including prices which have remained substantially unchanged. The line to Sanremo makes 40 stops all the seaside resorts of Western Liguria, while the Biella – Vercelli – Cattolica line, after also touching Mortara, Vigevano and Pavia, makes more than 35 stops from Lido di Classe to Gabicce.

“Stat has always entrusted this line with its most comfortable and ecological vehicles (all buses are guaranteed Euro 6), which allow you to comfortably reach all the small holiday resorts, without the stress of driving in traffic and parking and without the hassle of change – the company says – And then there are the offers that allow you to further optimize costs: a 25% discount on groups of four people (basically one travels for free), or 50% discount for children up to 15 years old. The “A day at the seaside” offer is a low-cost fare to the Adriatic for those who choose the night outward journey”.

Departures from Vercelli for the Rivieras they are from Largo Brigata Cagliari 6 (Sanremo) and Autostazione corso Gastaldi (Cattolica). For Liguria the trips from July they become daily. For the Adriatic the line has intensified its services in July, reaching up to five per week, including one at night (Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun outbound and Mon, Thu, Sat morning/afternoon, Sunday return).

“Buying a ticket is very simple, given the large number of travel agencies you can contact, it is equally practical to do it directly on the Gruppo Stat website www.gruppoStat.com, by going to the bus lines page and choosing day, time and route, or by using the application that can be downloaded on your smartphone which also allows other notable advantages, linked to information on the line and even the traceability of the vehicle you want to take”, they say from Stat.
