The reasons for the nighttime vandalism raid are unknown, which allegedly led a 25-year-old to damage, in the space of a few hours on the same night, approximately 30 vehicles all regularly parked in the main streets of the historic center of Guastalla. The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of the Guastalla station, where all the victims went to file a complaint, also thanks to video surveillance systems and consistent witness statements, have allowed them to trace the alleged perpetrator of the vandalism raid, allowing them to acquire evidence against him regarding his alleged responsibility.

For these reasons, with the charge of aggravated and continuous damage, the Carabinieri of the Guastalla station have reported to the Reggio Emilia Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Prosecutor Calogero Gaetano Paci a 25-year-old foreigner domiciled in the lower Reggio Emilia area. The investigations relating to the proceedings, in the preliminary investigation phase, will continue for the usual investigative insights in order to allow the evaluations and determinations inherent to the exercise of criminal action.

The origin of the facts dates back to the night of June 20, when around one o’clock, the soldiers of the Mobile Radio Unit of the Guastalla Carabinieri Company, on the orders of the local Operations Center, intervened in via Gonzaga, following a telephone report from some citizens who reported some people intent on damaging a vehicle. Once the soldiers arrived on site, they contacted the citizens requesting the intervention who told the soldiers that they had been called by shouts and noises coming from via Gonzaga, and that they had noticed some people, of foreign origin, intent on chasing another person.

The citizen showed the military a short video taken with his cell phone, in which a man was seen throwing objects at the wall and kicking a vehicle. The military learned the news with the help of other patrols of the force, and began searching for the man. During these searches, which ended with a negative outcome, the military found the presence of some damaged bicycles in the streets of the historic center, also noting the damage, caused by a sharp object, to numerous cars, regularly parked along the streets. That same morning and in the following days, 30 residents in the streets of the historic center of Guastalla showed up at the offices of the local station, reporting the damage, by unknown persons, to their cars, caused by a sharp instrument.

Once the complaints had been formalised, the Carabinieri began their investigations, starting from the acquisition of images from the cameras of the video surveillance systems present in the streets of the historic center of Guastalla. From the analysis of the videos, it was possible to visualize the entire dynamics of the criminal event, also managing to visualize the alleged person responsible for the criminal event. Following the investigative activity, carried out by the Guastallesi military, supported by unanimous witness statements, and also thanks to the videos of the video surveillance cameras, the carabinieri managed to trace the 25-year-old, acquiring important elements regarding his alleged responsibility in order to the contested crime, a circumstance for which he was reported to the Reggio Public Prosecutor’s Office in relation to the aforementioned violated regulatory reference.
