Toasts– (IVF source) The closing of the Edison Next 2024 Italian Offshore Sailing Championship in Brindisi was still marked by wind. The Apulian sea also provided a constant north wind on the final day, just a little lighter than in the previous days, around 12 knots with a few slightly stronger gusts and consistently strong waves, typical of this regatta field.

The Italian Altura Edison Next 2024 therefore closes with the fully respected program of eight tests in four days. Thanks to the weather conditions but also to the organization of the Circolo della Vela Brindisi and the Regatta Committee.

It was not only a beautiful event with many races, it was also a difficult championship, with the pursuit of the Italian titles that engaged the crews and technicians. There were no shortage of divergent assessments regarding the weather data at the basis of the calculations of the rankings with compensated times, and the comparisons between the Race Committee, the Technical Committee and the competing teams, always with mutual respect for the roles.

THE FINAL RANKINGS AND SPECIAL PRIZES

The mayor of Brindisi Giuseppe Marchionna spoke at the awards ceremony together with the president of CV Brindisi Nino Caso and the president of FIV Francesco Ettorre. The latter, in addition to thanking the organizing club and all the competitors, spoke about the discussions that accompanied some technical aspects of the championship: “We are not hiding behind a finger, I am sorry for some situations during the regatta, we will treasure it because we always want to see the competitors happy. We will draw attention to what can be done to always improve, which is our goal.”
