QThis morning the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Modica Company collaborated by personnel of the Carabinieri Company of Tuscania (VT), they executed three precautionary custody orders in prison against as many subjects, perpetrators of the robbery which occurred last April against a well-known tobacconist in the city of Ispica.
Immediately after the events, a specific investigation activity was started, starting from the technical surveys. carried out at the commercial establishment by specialized personnel, in order to search for fingerprints and elements useful for identifying the perpetrators of the criminal action, until the acquisition of witness statements. At the same time, the footage from the various video surveillance systems that operate in the municipal area was viewed, which allowed to ascertain the fact that the robbers had used a specific car to carry out the robbery, whose license plate had been clumsily altered through the use of adhesive tape.
The photographic reconnaissance of the various video surveillance systems carried out by the military allowed to identify, thanks to the knowledge of the territory and the subjects of operational interest that gravitate in it, an essential detail of the vehicle, namely the use of the so-called “tire wheel”, which made the correspondence of the car with its user unmistakable. By acting with this “modus operandi”, the military managed to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the robbery, both in relation to the phases preceding and following the criminal action.
The investigations continued with the verification of other elements, as during the investigations we arrived at the place where the clothes used by the robbers had been abandoned, exactly a rocky area of the municipality of Ispica, where drug users often meet. The results were also obtained thanks to the technical activities started by the proceeding Department, which allowed to crystallize the position of another subject, female, who participated in the robbery as a lookout and, at the same time, promoter of the criminal action.
Today’s measures, submitted to the Judicial Authority by the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Modica Company, were fully accepted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ragusa, as the elements acquired during the investigations left no doubts as to the responsibility of the perpetrators of the robbery. The operation, called “Fulmine”, demonstrated the ability of the Arma to reconstruct in a short period of time the dynamics of an event that had seriously undermined the serenity and public order of the Ispica community, in addition to interfering with the daily activities of the various commercial establishments.
