Campania “is paying above all for this year of delay caused by the bureaucratic swamp represented by the Meloni government and the Cohesion Ministry, which are blocking cohesion funds”. Governor Vincenzo De Luca says this on the sidelines of a meeting organized by the Bank of Italy, in Salerno, to provide an in-depth analysis of the Campania economy.

The blocking of funds “causes serious problems for the economy of the regional territory”, adds De Luca, who then speaks of some “frankly disconcerting” measures that have been taken by the government this year. I am thinking of the single southern SEZ: it has not started a ‘works this year. Then we also had a cut in cohesion funds relating to infrastructure, 4 billion euros which the government reduced to 400 million.”

The situation of the Campania economy appears, according to the President of the Region, “very contradictory. We had had two years with important growth rates in some industrial sectors, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, in the agro-industrial sector, in the automotive sector, also with a support from the Region. And we obviously have a difficult situation regarding construction after the super bonus affair and so on. So, lights and shadows, but the thing that has weighed the most is obviously the blocking of development and cohesion funds , which would have allowed us to already have the construction sites open is frankly a crime.”
