The story of the works in via Fiorentina never ceases to be discussed. “After numerous changes to the project, following a significant increase in costs, after years of waiting, to date we still don’t know how this story will end” intervenes the President of Confesercenti Mario Landini. “Our association has been asking for a solution to the problem for years“.
The economic activities of the area, heavily penalized for more than twenty years by the ban on left turns coming from the ring road, have over time seen roundabouts built at every intersection in the city. ”Excellent solutions to the traffic problem, but the Via Fiorentina intersection seems to need a much more complex intervention“.
Confesercenti does not want to go into the merits of urban planning choices that are not within its competence, but it certainly expresses the concern of traders who have not yet understood if and when these works will be carried out. “We were always guaranteed that the works would not have a substantial impact on the road system, that car traffic would not be interrupted, but unfortunately last October/November this did not happen” recalls Director Valeria Alvisi.
“So today the concern for entrepreneurs is strong. We ask the administration for certainties: certainty of the timing and practical implications of the construction site”. “We also think” Landini continues “but if this project is so huge and complex, how could we escape unscathed? Isn’t a simpler and faster solution really possible like the roundabouts built throughout the rest of the city? Maybe not, but then let’s proceed quickly and pay maximum attention to the work of all those economic activities that live and populate that street“.
