Terni: killed with bare hands in Borgo Bovio. The appeal confirms 8 years of imprisonment

The Assize Court of Appeal of Perugia – president Paolo Micheli – confirmed the eight-year prison sentence for manslaughter on Wednesday morning, established in the first instance last September 27th by the investigating judge of Terni Barbara Di Giovannantonio with the methods of the abbreviated procedure, against 28-year-old Samuel Obagbolo, originally from Nigeria. The court will file the reasons within the next 90 days.

The young man was arrested by the Carabinieri of Terni following the death of the 39-year-old Tunisian Ridha Jamaaoui, who was attacked – according to the investigative findings of the Carabinieri, with the coordination of the prosecutor Barbara Mazzullo – with kicks and punches at the height of an argument for trivial reasons which took place on the evening of November 27, 2022 in via Romagna, in Terni, in the Borgo Bovio district.

Samuel Obagbolo, present in the courtroom on Wednesday, is defended by the lawyer Francesco Montalbano Caracci: «We will read the reasons carefully – states the lawyer – but I can say right now that we will certainly appeal to the Supreme Court. The dynamics of the incident were never fully clarified because, in our opinion, this proceeding evidently suffered from incomplete investigations.”

During the hearing, after the general prosecutor’s office, the lawyers of the civil parties intervened – the lawyer Paolo Cipiccia for the victim’s daughter and the lawyer Maurizio Filiacci for the sister, the brother-in-law and the nephews – and then the defense of the 28 years old. The council chamber was relatively short, lasting less than an hour.
