VIAREGGIO – Three of the perpetrators of the two attacks against minors which occurred in recent weeks in Lido di Camaiore and Viareggio have been identified by the Carabinieri: they are three minors.
For no apparent reason they kicked, punched and belted a small group of peers who were at the Lido di Camaiore pier on the evening of June 7th. Same violent scenario a few days later, on 11 June, in Viareggio: the victim was a 14-year-old boy from Lucca forced to seek 118 treatment.
The three minors responsible for the two serious attacks have now been identified by the Carabinieri. The investigations of recent days have tightened the circle around the trio: for them the measure of the urban Daspo was requested which provides for the prohibition of approaching the places of violence. Same measure already adopted by the Police Commissioner in May against 14 subjects for incidents of bad nightlife, again mostly minor.
Five attacks have occurred in Viareggio since the beginning of the year (at least those reported to the police). Faced with growing alarm among families and residents, the Carabinieri searched the meeting points of young people, often the scene of fights and disturbances even in the afternoon: the clock area in Passeggiata, that of the Politeama and the Varignano district. Groups of minors frequenting Piazza Campioni, Piazza Mazzini and Largo Risorgimento were under special observation: scooters, cars and passers-by were stopped.
A hot start to the summer on the youth safety front. The Carabinieri ensure that the checks will continue throughout the season thanks also to the arrival of summer reinforcements: over 25 soldiers including a team from the Florence Operational Intervention Company, which will arrive in Versilia from July 1st as part of the planned security plan from the Prefecture.
