cgil, fascism, stamp, giacomo matteotti, italo foschi, modena, italian post office,
The CGIL of Modena expresses the own indignation towards the decision of Poste Italiane to dedicate a stamp to Italo Foschi, a fascist militantorganizer of the squadrism in Rome, companion of Mussolini, also known for having congratulated the murderer of Giacomo Matteotti making him a hero.
This fact is even more serious because it falls in the year in which we are celebrating one hundred years since the death of Giacomo Matteotti, a free man, profoundly anti-fascist, killed by fascist squadristi for his ideas and for reports of violence and electoral fraud of the nascent fascist dictatorship of Benito Mussolini.
“I don’t think all this is a coincidence – declares Aurora Ferrari of the CGIL Modena secretariat – but it is part of a poorly concealed attempt to redesign history that this Government has implemented since its inauguration”.
“We therefore ask that the distribution of the stamp is stopped immediately which we consider a serious and shameful provocation and an offense to the memory of all those who gave their lives for freedom and democracy in our country”.
