Great anticipation to Spice for the 2024 edition of Italian Athletics ChampionshipsThat Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June they will award a total of 42 Italian titles over the two days of competition. The final lists of entries have been delivered and the wait is completely legitimate, given that most of the protagonists of the recent European Championships in Rome will be present to continue their march towards the Paris 2024 Olympics.
So the spotlight will undoubtedly be on us Leonardo Fabbri, who will challenge his national teammate Zane Weir in the shot put: for the Tuscan this year the sensational 22.95, a new Italian record and in the seasonal top-3 of the world. It’s no different Lorenzo Simonelli, main attraction of the 110 meters hurdles after the European title at the Olimpico which followed the world indoor silver in the 60 meters hurdles. He also set the Italian record at 13.05. The Mountain Sports Center of the Ligurian city will also see one of the queens of the European Championships involved, that is Nadia Battocletti who won gold in both the 5000 and 10000 meters in the capital: in La Spezia the athlete of the blue flames will be competing in the 5000 metres. All without forgetting Sara Fantini, fresh winner of the European gold in the women’s hammer and chasing her fifteenth consecutive Italian title.
The very long list of protagonists continues with the women’s 100 meters Zaynab Dosso, Italian record holder and bronze at the European Championships, but also with Valentina Trapletti’s 10 km race walk, Alessandro Sibilio’s 400 hurdles and Pietro Arese’s 1500 who will compete with Federico Riva and Ossama Meslek. Among those who are still looking for the Olympic pass there is Dario Dester to follow, who in the decathlon is perhaps at the last resort to get a seat on the flight to Paris.
